Frame your floor like a tatami room — with Japanese-inspired craft at the edge. The Madurkathi Heri Tatami Floor Mat is handwoven from natural river grass (Madurkathi) and finished with a vivid ethnic border, echoing the idea of a tatami heri: a defined edge that turns bare floor into intentional living space. Artisans weave each mat for home décor, yoga, meditation, and daily use. The surface stays cool and breathable year-round; the border adds tribal colour and heritage detail that plastic rugs cannot match. Lightweight and foldable, it rolls away when you need the room back — portable tatami calm for apartments and open homes alike. Available sizes: • 50 × 74 inches (127 × 188 cm) • 52 × 74 inches (132 × 188 cm) • 54 × 74 inches (137 × 188 cm) • 56 × 74 inches (142 × 188 cm) Note: Each mat is handmade — slight variations in size and pattern are natural. Tatami lifestyle notes: • Border acts like a soft “heri” to mark a practice or seating zone • Breathable reed surface for warm-climate floor living • Beautiful in living rooms, bedrooms, yoga corners, and puja rooms • Eco-friendly alternative to synthetic floor rugs Key features: • 100% natural Madurkathi river grass • Unique ethnic woven border in traditional design • Eco-friendly, non-toxic, and multipurpose • Durable for indoor use; foldable and light to store • Ideal for décor, outdoors picnics, yoga, or meditation Care: Clean gently with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not machine wash or soak. Store dry, away from harsh direct sun for long periods. Shake or brush off loose dust regularly.

After two months of tea-time use there are light sit marks that air out overnight. Overall durability is good for the price.

Ordered after comparing a few sellers. The mat feels denser and more finished than cheaper reed rugs we tried earlier. Packaging was careful and the surface had no crushed spots on arrival.

We measured twice and the size matched perfectly. Barefoot feel is firm but comfortable. Slight natural grass scent for the first week, which we actually liked.

Using it daily in the living room. Holds shape well, no weird chemical smell. Guests always ask where we got it from.

Quality is clearly a step above printed straw mats. Weave is tight, corners are clean, and it sits flat on our tiled floor without curling.

Second order from Tatami Mat — same consistent finish as before. Good for anyone who wants something closer to authentic Japanese flooring.

Not the cheapest option, but you can tell the materials are better. Installation was simple; we just unrolled, aired it overnight, and placed it.
